A great conversation, thank you! The other arena where climate conversations happen frequently for young people is at school or online (Willow Project/TikTok) and it would be amazing to have a part 2 of this conversation focused on the younger generation. I’ve been teaching climate science to a generally conservative student body at boarding schools for 25 years and have struck upon a balance of science+love in my approach, which has been wicked effective. Cool to hear that PE’s research seems to back that up. The curriculum now weaves together Joseph Campbell’s concept of a hero’s journey, Nolan’s “Interstellar” and Ada Limon’s “Dead Stars” throughout the year, having kids connect the science with their own personal heroic narrative. Love is the throughline and AWCS helped unlock that, thank you!
