Yowza / doozy are right! And so is local action! Might seem small, but my church just approved updating all of our lights to LEDs, which will save 6 metric tons of CO2 / year. Add that to a bunch of other small actions from others, and maybe we get where we need to go! *Also - appreciate the Citizens Climate Lobby shoutout, I'm a member in Chicago and can attest that it's a great way to take action locally and find your climate people
Yes! Our county is currently working on the Climate Element of the Comprehensive Plan and we have been working to get people engaged, commenting and strategizing. Thanks for inspiring us all to keep pushing!
In response to federal actions, I’ve been using 5 Calls for scripts to call my representatives and senators. And currently, probably because there are so many issues of concern in these first weeks of the Trump administration, there is no script for citizens to call and express concerns for climate. We don’t always need a script, but it helps get so many more people to call! Any ideas on how to get climate on the list for platforms like 5Calls?
Replying again. I just downloaded the app (been meaning to) and if you click the "About 5Calls" tab they have a "contact us" link and they also write that it's volunteer-made, so probably a climate section could be added easily! Feel free to DM me if you'd like. I'll look around tomorrow and see what I can find on adding a script.
I wonder if it'd be worth contacting Sierra Club or any other group that sends out action calls and trying to work with them to connect with 5calls? It'd be a great way for them to get a wider audience for climate issues!

In a world of 8 billion people local action isn't just needed, it's powerful. We are many.
Thank you so much for your work, Ayana. It gives me hope.
Thank you for this.

Excellent perspective and action tips, excited to be connected.
We are in fact the ones we have been waiting for! Thank you for writing this piece.
